How Does a Discount Cards Fundraiser Work?

How Does a Discount Cards Fundraiser Work?

School clubs and organizations, church groups, sports teams, the PTA, and other charities are constantly looking for new ways to raise funds, particularly when donations are down.  If you have yet to try a discount cards fundraiser, there are plenty of reasons why you should including incredible profits, minimal work and effort, and knowing you have a valuable product to offer the customer.  So, how does it work, and is it something you should consider the next time your group or organization is in need of money?

Here is how a discount cards fundraiser works:

The cards typically display special "deals" on the backs, such as percent off or buy-one-get-one-free offers.  There are usually a dozen or more of these offers at merchants in your own local community, including restaurants and fast-food establishments, hair salons, car care services, family activities, the local florist - whatever merchants you choose to include, basically.

Now, here is where it all begins.  With a discount cards fundraiser, either you can contact the merchants to see if they want to participate, or the card company will handle this for you.  Convincing the merchants to participate usually isn't difficult, because they want to support your group - and they get free exposure and advertising, which means increased business and new customers.

Next, you will need to decide how many cards to order.  Generally speaking, most people can easily sell at least 10 cards each.  So, if you have 25 in your group who will do the selling, you should order 250 to 300 cards; 50 who will sell, order at least 500 cards.  With each 1,000 cards you order, you get 200 free.  Once you have decided how many cards you need, you can have your organization's name, logo, or other information printed on the front of the cards for a professional look.

Now all you need to do is wait for the cards to arrive!  You can see that with a discount cards fundraiser, there is very little planning involved.  You may want to announce your fundraiser and that you will be selling the cards during the time you are waiting for your order to come in.  You can do this easily by announcing it to your local friends and family on Facebook, hanging bulletins at local businesses, etc.

Once the cards arrive, distribute them to the participants in your group and you're ready to begin selling!  Because they're so easy to carry with you wherever you go, you can sell them at sporting events, church, school, at work, or simply go door to door in the community.  These value-packed cards are easy to sell, simply because customers can easily see how much money they will save over a one-year time period.  Your group will love them because of the huge profit margins, which can go above 100% depending on the size of your organization, and how many cards you sell.

Now that you know how a discount cards fundraiser works, what are you waiting for?  It's easy, profitable, and because there is little work or effort involved you could even call it fun!  These handy little cards have been used by non-profit groups for decades to raise money, and they’re just as popular today as they were in the very beginning.  When a product has “staying power,” you know there is a reason - because it works.
